I used to work for a ministry and had really bad depression and anxiety while working there. At one point, it was so bad that I had to go back home for a month because of my bad mental health. Anyway, I knew my friends were praying for me, but I didn’t know what else they were doing to help me.
Most of my good friends were really good singers and apparently, they were recording songs to help me through the tough time. All this time while I was there, they were recording a cd for me to listen to while I was away. I had no idea they were recording a cd for me. On the envelope that the cd came in was a written note that said something to the effect of “don’t open till you get home,” kind of like when a gift says “do not open till Christmas.”
The next day, I flew home and my parents picked me up. When I got home, I immediately opened the envelope and found a card with a note from each of my friends and a CD. One of my favorite songs during this time was on the CD, “In Christ Alone.” This really touched me and even though I hadn’t been the best friend and had been through basically a living hell, they still cared for me.
There were times when I wondered why they cared so much about me even though I wasn’t in the right state of mind. I was humbled by this gesture and looking back now, I knew it was because they loved me as a brother in Christ.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
