Every year on August 12, communities around the world celebrate International Youth Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the contributions, potential, and creativity of young people.
It’s also a day to celebrate youth, reminding us of the important role we all play in encouraging and supporting the next generation.

Young people have incredible gifts to share with the world. They bring fresh ideas, creativity and energy.
When young people are given opportunities to be heard, encouraged to use their talents, and surrounded by positive role models, they can become powerful forces for kindness and positive change.

Sometimes we think that making a difference requires doing something big. But kindness often begins with something very small.
A young person who welcomes a new student, checks on a friend, helps a neighbor, volunteers in the community already making a difference.
Spread Kindness:
Standing beside someone who is being bullied.
Helping someone who is struggling.
Sharing time or talents with others.
Volunteering in the community.
Showing compassion to someone who is different from you.
Choosing words that build people up instead of tearing them down.

Kindness is a quality that can be practiced at any age. Young people can learn that kindness is about treating people with dignity, compassion and respect.
International Youth Day is about more than celebrating young people for one day. It is an invitation to continue investing in them throughout the year.
