Celebrating Friendship

I heard it said “If you can count on one hand how many friends you have, you are truly blessed.”

Today is the day to tell our best friends how much we appreciate and love them. Friends support us in all stages of life and help us cope with the trials and tragedies of life.

Today’s the day to enjoy one on one time with the people who always have our good intentions at heart and are always there to support and love us.

History of National Best Friends Day

In 1935, the U.S. Congress came together to devote a day each year to honor close friends. They chose June 8, a summer day, to celebrate friendships and the perfect time for outdoor activities.

Although this celebration has lost its popularity through the years, it has seen

“ a recent upsurge of engagement since the advent of social media.” People will post fun pics of themselves and their close friends.

“Making friends for the world to see

Let the people know you got what you need

With a friend at hand you will see the light

If your friends are there, then everything's alright” - “Friends”- Elton John/Bernie Taupin
