Someone recently asked me what inspired me to create the God’s Secret Service Agents Foundation. I came from a very poor background having grown up in the third-world developing country of Jamaica in the 1960s. Although our family lived in poverty with no electricity, running water, indoor plumbing or other modern conveniences, I knew that I could achieve great success in my life. After my family immigrated to the US in the 1970s, God blessed us abundantly! As a result, I developed a strong desire to give back and pay it forward by helping others in need.

While I loved to give and help others, I also expected, looked forward to and enjoyed the praises and compliments that I received from the people I helped. Almost 10 years ago, God challenged my thinking through a Joyce Meyer’s teaching, which made me realize that my motives were all wrong. I was not helping people for the right reasons.
He reminded me of Matthews 6:4-1, which states: “Take care! Don’t do your good deeds publicly or before men in order to be seen by them; otherwise, you will have no reward with and from your Father who is in heaven. Whenever you give to the poor, don’t shout about it as the hypocrites do, blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets and calling attention to their acts of charity! I tell you in all earnestness, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you do a kindness to someone, do it secretly-don’t tell the left hand what your right hand is doing. And your Father who knows all secrets will reward you openly.”
God taught me over time how to give and help others secretly, as well as openly, without expecting anything in return. It was hard for me at first because my ego secretly wanted the credit and recognition. It was also strange for me at first not to know the outcome of my secret acts of service.
Over the years, God has taught me how fun and rewarding it can be to help others in secret. As I began to plot and plan to give and help people secretly, I knew that as I planted secret seeds of kindness into people’s lives, that I could trust God to bring hope and blessings in the lives of the people I helped without me seeing and knowing the specifics of how it impacted them. The outcomes were not up to me, they were up to God. As long as I did my part, I would be blessed along with the people I helped. My life has also been tremendously blessed as a result of this biblical way of serving!
Recently, I was able to retire early from an amazing career. I now devote my time, energy and resources to the cause of helping to build a movement of people who secretly go on missions for God to bring hope to the less fortunate. GSS Agents can change lives, unify our communities and help renew people’s faith in God and humanity through our unselfish secret missions/acts of kindness.
