Inconvenience Yourself Day/Week - GSSA Encourages Our Agents

to step out of their comfort zones and do something special for others this day/week.

The point of this day / week is to motivate ourselves even though it may feel uncomfortable, but will have a positive impact on others.

History of Inconvenience Yourself Day

Inconvenience Yourself Day was started by Julie Thompson, an environmental consultant living in Florida. She realized the necessity of spending time and paying attention to the world around her. Julie came to the conclusion she wanted to be part of the solution, so she created a day when people could go out of their way to help other people.

Inconvenience Yourself Day Activities

This day/week can celebrated by appreciating and encouraging your acquaintances, co-workers, friends, children and even strangers. One act of kindness to a stranger encourages them and in turn makes us happy!

  1. Pay it Forward- Small acts of kindness are the most valuable.

  2. Reach out to a Friend- Take some time out on this day/week to lend a friend a hand and check on them.

  3. Volunteer at a Homeless Shelter- Volunteering at a homeless shelter will make people’s lives easier and improve their self -esteem.

Thoughts about this day..

What does it mean to inconvenience yourself?

"Anything you do that’s unselfish and needs you to put in effort for someone else, and not for yourself, is an inconvenience. You don’t have to wait until someone does you a good deed."

“Our job on earth isn't to criticize, reject, or judge. Our purpose is to offer a helping hand, compassion, and mercy. We are to do unto others as we hope they would do unto us.”
